| Purpose: Emergency meeting of the State Personnel Board. The Agenda may be found on the Division of Personnels website. On the agenda is a request to create the class specification Child Protective Service Worker Senior in order to assist the Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) in their efforts to retain employees in the Child Protective Worker series. The DHHR has been under close judicial scrutiny because they have an inadequate number of employees in the Child Protective Service Worker series to enable DHHR to protect and ensure the safety of children who are abused and neglected. The Division of Highways (DOH) has stated that they have approximately 60 vacant Highway Engineer Trainee positions that they need to fill ASAP. They are trying to recruit candidates for these positions from spring 2018 college graduates and they are requesting a special hiring rate. They must fill positions in order to fulfill their requirements under the Governors Roads to Prosperity Program. In the 2017 Legislative Session, Highways was granted in §17-2A-24. Special employment procedures for Division of Highways personnel. (Enrolled SB 2003). The DOH requested this special meeting of the State Personnel Board to assist them in filling these positions ASAP. The Governor feels infrastructure, particularly roads and bridges, are in dire need of repair and under the current pay structure we cannot recruit viable employees. |
