About Online Ordering

Security

• Your credit card information is not stored on any Secretary of State server when you order from us.
• The order is processed through a secure server managed by the State Treasurer, your credit card account is charged, and the funds are transferred to the appropriate state account.
• The only record maintained by the Secretary of State is the information needed to process your orders, and to contact you in case of a problem.
• Your name, contact information and purchase information is used only for your order, and is not provided to any other party or agency.

Order Processing

• A confirmation that your request was received will be returned to your e-mail address automatically.
• Staff will begin to prepare your order by the next business day.
• If questions or problems surface relating to the service you have requested, a staff member will use the contact e-mail or telephone number you provide.
• If you order publications, your credit card will be charged for the total cost of the publications when you complete your initial request, and the order should be mailed within one business day.
• If you order custom photocopies, certified copies, good standing/ existence certificates or certified charters, our staff will make sure the documents requested can be provided, and determine the total cost. You will be notified by e-mail, and provided a link to return to the Invoice Payment Center to complete your payment and shipping information.
• If you order UCC searches, your credit card will be charged at that time for the $5 per debtor search fee, which is required before the search can be initiated. Once the search is complete, you will be notified of the copy charges by e-mail, and provided a link to return to the Invoice Payment Center to complete your payment and shipping information.
• State law does not permit the Secretary of State to deliver a service without prior payment for any function other than Administrative Law.

Online Business Filings

• New business registration can now be completed online at Business for West Virginia.  Online registration provides the advantage of complete one-stop basic business registration, and allows you to complete your filing requirements with the Secretary of State, State Tax Department, Unemployment Compensation and Workers’ Compensation using an online interview and single payment of fees.
• Limited liability company annual reports can also be filed online at Business for West Virginia.  LLC and PLLC owners may access and update company addresses using the security PIN that will be mailed to the company with the annual report form.

About Other Ordering

If you do not want to pay by credit card, other convenient methods of ordering services are available. If the services do not filing involve documents with original signatures, you may start your order by e-mail, telephone or fax.
