| Purpose: The Racing Commission will conduct an emergency meeting to continue to discuss and act upon a request from the licensee for its two greyhound racetracks to suspend live racing due to precautionary measures related to the COVID-19 virus. The Commission began discussion on this matter at an emergency meeting on March 20, 2020. Action was delayed on March 20, 2020 to allow appropriate racing constituents to engage in discussions related to possible arrangements for greyhound training on the racetracks during any approved suspension of live racing. Discussion of arrangements for training are necessary to ensure that all appropriate measures are considered to protect animal and human welfare. Another emergency meeting is necessary on March 23, 2020 on these matters to address the imminent threat and substantial harm posed by COVID-19 to members of the public that the Racing Commission serves, including racing constituents and participants. |
